French Civil Engineering Students tour MotorCity^® and INDEX™                                                 

Dubai, Sunday, May 10, 2009 - Union Properties PJSC (UP) hosted the students of the IIT BTP, a school of civil engineering in Reims, France. The students toured MotorCity and INDEX during their recent visit to Dubai. Project managers oriented the students with detailed presentations on the features and construction of the projects followed by extensive Q&A sessions and a guided site tour.

“UP hosts various study tours for all projects under construction for local and international students throughout the year based on the academic requirements of the institutions’ programmes,” said Michael Jackson, Chief Marketing Officer, UP. “For international students, the main objectives of their study tours are to discover international companies that may have different work methods. We have had student groups from the United Kingdom and Hong Kong in the past, however, this is our first group from France and we were very delighted to welcome them to tour our projects in Dubai.”

“Union Properties gave us a comprehensive presentation of the MotorCity project; we were particularly impressed with its integrated and well developed concept which not only included an internationally certified race track but also incorporated a host of other facilities and services including residences, hotels, offices and retail areas”, said Mr. Patrice DELCOURT, the professor who accompanied the students during the tour.

“I was particularly impressed with the design structure of INDEX’’, said Léa Caillierez, one of the students on tour. “The project managers on site highlighted the challenges and guidelines that have been adhered to in terms of the design, construction, and maintenance of the building which gave us a deeper insight on the theories we had learned at our current level of studies’’, she added.

The project study tour included 24 senior civil engineering students from the ‘Institut d'Ingénieur des Techniques du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics’ (IIT BTP) located in Reims, France. This is the institute’s first time visit to the UAE. The group were welcomed by UP representatives and introduced by the project managers on site to two of UP’s latest projects; the INDEX located within DIFC and the unique MotorCity development located within Dubailand^®.
